The leading strategy of the Informal Learning Strand flows from the hypothesis that a greater and more systematic understanding of informal learning can advance both existing theories of STEM learning and lead to concrete educational initiatives and learning technology designs. The Informal Learning Strand, comprised of 10 senior personnel and local research groups, will be coordinated by a shared governance among the Strand 2 Leadership Group of Reed Stevens and Philip Bell (UW), and Roy Pea and Brigid Barron (Stanford), in collaboration with Center PI John Bransford (UW).
